In descending order here are seven of the worlds hottest peppers with The Scolville Heat Unit measurements. What pepper are you willing to try?

7. Red Savina Habanero – 500,000 SHU

Once known as the worlds hottest, even at number seven, this pepper is no joke.

A small amount of this pepper can cause extreme heat to any home made salsa lovers creation. Be careful, this is no ordinary pepper!

6. Chocolate Habanero – 700,000 SHU

Now don't by fooled by the name, the only thing chocolate about this spicy gem is it's color!

This pepper is a popular choice in some of the hottest jerk sauces around!

5. Red Trinidad 7 Pot – 780,000 SHU

Hailing from it's name sake Trinidad, this pepper is mainly grown on small private farms.

Legend has it one pepper can add enough spice for seven pots of stew, no lack in heat here!

4. Naga Bhut Jolokia – 1 million SHU

Now that we are at a million SHU, the heat is certainly rising!

Grown in India, this pepper once held the distinction of being the worlds hottest and is also know as the Ghost Pepper!

3. Trinidad Scorpion Butch T – 1.5 million SHU

Another Trinidad product and former worlds hottest!

The fact that scorpion is part of this peppers name should tell you something right off the bat. Not to mention that it is so hot, you'll need to wear a mask if you plan to cook with it!

2. Chocolate 7-Pot – 1.8 million SHU

That's right, almost twice as hot as the fabled ghost pepper.

Not to be mistaken with the chocolate habanero though as this puppy is serious when it comes to the heat factor. They are also super rare, so finding one might be difficult.

1. Trinidad moruga scorpion – 2 million SHU

Hot Hot Hot! Four Hundred times hotter than a jalapeno in fact!

This scorcher is yet another pepper from Trinidad, member of the scorpion family and yes…it stings!
