An Award Winning Chef Taught Me This Method For Cooking Ham

An Award Winning Chef Taught Me This Method For Cooking Ham

Whenever I eat dinner at a certain friends house I always make sure to pay extra close attention to what she does in the kitchen. Not because I'm nosey or a trying to see what her super-secret recipes are but because she is an award winning chef who cooks for one of the best restaurants in the area.

Okay- so maybe I'm also trying to see what her super-secret recipes are.

She makes cooking look effortless and simple. As if she was simply born with a Rolodex of recipes committed to memory. I half expected to hear that her first words were caramelized or whisk.

That night our discussion quickly turned to Easter Dinner and the inevitable ham that everyone would be cooking and she laughed when I started telling her how I was going to prepare mine. “Why are you doing it the hard way? Here let me show you”

When she was done- I was floored. There is no way it's that easy but alas again she was right and I was wrong.

Want to know what her secret was? Keep reading for the instructions that she gave me and trust me I will never cook another ham any other way again.

99.9 percent of ham sold is already cooked. You just need to warm it up. So the crock pot is a good idea.

The best way to cook a bone in ham is cover in coke and cook on 200 in oven for about 4-5 hours. Falls apart it is so tender!

Almost all meat and foul in stores is bad for you. But I know farmers that feed them healthy foods which makes them way way better for you. Saying pig isn’t food for most people is like saying a car is really a horse. Don’t make sense. But you are entitled to your opinion as am I. So enjoy beef or chicken if you even eat that.

Where could I get a brown paper bag. Grocery stores only have plastic bags now. I miss the paper bags. We used to use them for making book covers, too.

Same as using Reynolds Oven Bags.
I use them for whole turkeys, chicken and hams.
They are just as juicy as using a paper bag.

My mom used to bake ham this way. I bought a ham the other day, as I was checking out my groceries I asked for a brown paper bag, told the lady why I wanted it. People in line behind me thought I was joking. Ha, jokes on them, My mom would be over a 100 yrs old if still living, so this method has been around a looooong time.
