Here's the full list of reasons you may always feel hungry, even when you've just had a meal. Some of these may surprise you, but fortunately all of them are easy to fix!
1. You’re Not Drinking Enough Water
Dehydration can actually resemble the feelings you get with hunger, so try upping your water intake to treat possible dehydration and help you feel fuller. When you have hunger pains, reach for a nice big glass of water and then wait about 15 minutes to see if the food cravings subside.
2. You’re Bored
This is also called emotional eating. If you've just eaten and you already (or still) feel hungry, try distracting yourself by going for a walk or engaging in a hobby or other activity you enjoy.
3. You’re Not Eating Enough Protein or Fat
Protein and fat keep hunger at bay and because they take longer to digest, they stay in your stomach longer so you stay full longer. Ideally you should have at least 50 grams of protein every day.
4. You’re Eating at Irregular Intervals
Skipping meals, especially breakfast, can make you feel hungry sooner. You also need to space out your meals to maintain fullness, ideally eating between every 4 and 5 hours. It doesn't have to a full meal, but if it's a snack make sure it's a filling one.
5. You’re a Restless Sleeper
If you're always tired, your body will crave sugar to give it the burst of energy it needs to keep going. Tossing and turning all night long can also disrupt hormones and make you hungrier.
Are you as surprised by this list as we were? We never would have thought water consumption would have anything to do with how hungry you're likely to feel, but now that we do we're definitely going to start drinking more water! We're looking forward to getting those pesky feelings of hunger under control!
