Normally Throw Eggs Away When They Expired? It's Surprising To Learn They Could Still Be Safe To Eat!
Many of us have been taught to always go by the dates on the packages when we need to determine if a food is still okay to eat.
So, when we have an almost full carton of eggs in the fridge but that date says that they are now expired, we feel like we should just toss them out and buy brand new eggs instead. However, many of us are left feeling guilty about wasting food and we may even been wondering if the eggs were still okay to eat.
If this sounds like you, we discovered the answer to this question that has been on many people's minds for years and we couldn't believe what we found out when it comes to eggs.
We were seriously shocked that eggs were good after the expiration date, well, that is a given if they are one or two days old, but how long they were actually edible floored us completely.

Hey, we have overgrown Zucchini in our garden that we won’t eat.
So we just slice up in big 1/4″ rounds…toss in coup and bam…it’s gone!!! So good for them…they love the seeds!!
put them in water if they float they are no good
If you want to know if your eggs are still good, take a big bowl of water, and put the egg in it. If they float they ARE NOT good. If they do not float they are still good.
Eggs are good for 7 days after expiration date only
IF old eggs are any danger we would have gotten ill or died a LONG LONG time ago.
I get them right from the chicken coop good for 2 months
Guess I should be dead by now. …I never go by expiration dates. Well maybe with meat.
Do not do this! The eggs explode and turn to rubber!
Yes
We never died
Yes

They don’t last that long in my house. Easy protein meal. But, the float tip is a good tip.
Me too, and my 92 year old father!
If they float don’t eatem, if they sink, go for it!
I don’t ever check expiration. On eggs all other dairy I do. Funny the thing you would get sick from. I never came across a bad egg sometimes I have in refrigerator for weeks
My friend used to do charter trips from Fla to Bahamas. Never refrigerated eggs. Used to turn them over daily. Boat kept moving too
I use them, no one gets sick. Use if they r stinky, dah, don’t use
Eggs last way longer than people would think

Growing up raising chickens, I knew this. Store bought eggs never taste as fresh as eggs you pull out from under the chicken still warm though. Js.
Store bought eggs still don’t taste as good as fresh from the chicken, and never will.
Much longer than that
Nope

I just now checked my carton , even before I saw this post, omg, they are good for a while longer, but I am not one to carry over for to long, looks like I will be boiling some eggs
more reasons to have your own chickens

Good to know.. I didn’t know about the float tip.
Ain’t worth the gamble for a dollar!!
Yes they will be fine within reason for heaven’s sakes!
Put in cold water if float bad. The last a long time
Eggs don’t have to be refrigerated
I knew that already..I lived on a farm..
Hard boil the eggs. Still good.

Country grown eggs, we had no dAte machine. A bad egg when always cracked in separate bowl was thrown away. Never ate or got sick on a bad egg
I’ve eaten eggs one month past the expiration date and haven’t died yet. I do use the float test if I have a question
I’m sure ‘this’ is where Uncle Jomie would say to me…’I TOLD YOU SO!!!’ 🙂
If they float in water, then pitch, but if they sit on the bottom, they are fine.
I do what others have said – if in doubt put in a deep bowl of water. If they float on top you should toss them because air has gotten in. If they are just suspended halfway they are fine and in fact they are the best for boiling and peel easily.
That’s what we were told . If the egg floats in a cup of water they are no good. So if they are past date I check them that way.
I do the “sink” or “swim” test with mine too, if they float I throw them out.
Just laid eggs taste eggy…lol. they have a stronger egg taste…I prefer store bought.
