Are Those Eggs Still Good After The Expiration Date?

Normally Throw Eggs Away When They Expired? It's Surprising To Learn They Could Still Be Safe To Eat!

Many of us have been taught to always go by the dates on the packages when we need to determine if a food is still okay to eat.

So, when we have an almost full carton of eggs in the fridge but that date says that they are now expired, we feel like we should just toss them out and buy brand new eggs instead. However, many of us are left feeling guilty about wasting food and we may even been wondering if the eggs were still okay to eat.

If this sounds like you, we discovered the answer to this question that has been on many people's minds for years and we couldn't believe what we found out when it comes to eggs.

We were seriously shocked that eggs were good after the expiration date, well, that is a given if they are one or two days old, but how long they were actually edible floored us completely.

We just had a sale for 48 cents a dozen. Limit of 3. I went in several times a day for a while. It is easy to check if an egg is good. I always break my eggs separately into a small bowl before adding to whatever I am cooking. And if they float high in a bowl of water, they may be bad.

just bake stuff and freeze it. Cookies, cakes and quick breads. Then you always have stuff on hand

I was very surprised to find that even without refrigeration, as long as they’re not left in a hot environment, eggs will last for a couple of months. I discovered this by not having electricity for quite a while, and was forced to rough it.

If you take the time to rotate the cartons every week or two, the eggs won’t float because the yolk won’t have settled to one end( which leaves an air pocket and causes flotation).

I use the date for rotating products in my refrigerator. My son does my shopping for me, so he puts it in the fridge & I check then check the dates.

You can always scramble raw eggs, 1 or 2 for a recipe and freeze in freezer containers. I have done this many times. freezing 4 to 6 for scrambled eggs. I just set the baggies in a bowl the night before in the frig to thaw. Take advantage of those sales.

You bet I’ve been told you can keep an egg for a long time after expiration but you have to turn the egg carton upside down every couple of days E
