Coke Is Getting Rid of a Popular Flavor…and Replacing It With a Controversial New One

The Beloved Soft Drink Manufacturer Is Angering a Lot of Its Longtime Customers…

Coca-cola has been around a long, long time…in fact, it's practically an American institution! So, it's no surprise that the company's longtime customers would be upset any time the brand announces plans to change its tried-and-true formula. Coke Zero, a no-calorie version of the beloved drink, had its share of detractors when it was introduced several years ago, and now Coke is upsetting people yet again but changing the once-controversial version of the popular soft drink.

See, now Coke is getting rid of Coke Zero, replacing it with Coke Zero Sugar, which the company says has an “even more delicious taste” than original Coke Zero. However, savvy consumers have inspected the product and discovered that the ingredients appear to be the same, right down to the inclusion of controversial artificial sweetener aspartame. While the verdict is still out here in the U.S., the new drink has already been introduced in 23 other countries.
