Copycat Recipe: Panda Express Honey Walnut Shrimp

Here's everything you need for this mouthwatering honey walnut shrimp. We recommend serving it on top of steam white rice and with some sliced scallions on top.

Ingredients to Gather

1 cup water
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup walnut halves
4 egg whites
2/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 pound large shrimp, 18-20 count, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
1 cup vegetable oil for frying
scallions for topping, optional

Directions to Follow

In a small saucepan, add the water, sugar and walnuts and bring to a boil.

Boil for two minutes and remove the walnuts and place on a dish to dry.

Whisk the egg whites until they are foamy then add cornstarch and continue whisking until well combined.

Next, place the shrimp into the batter, picking the shrimp up one at a time using a fork, letting some of the batter drip off. Next, pour the oil into a medium-sized pot and heat on medium high, and then fry the shrimp about 4 to 5 minutes or until they have a light golden brown color.

Now make the sauce. To do this, combine the honey, mayonnaise and sweetened condensed milk using a whisk and place the shrimp into the mixture and use a large spoon to coat. Place the shrimp on a plate and top with the walnuts before serving.
