Desserts: Featuring Mango

Desserts: Featuring Mango

1. Mango Pudding

You will need very ripe mangoes for this pudding. Mangos are combined with gelatin and sweetened condensed milk for creaminess. This is very easy to make, but please allow a few hours for cooling and thickening. If you are making for an evening dinner, make it way earlier in the day.

2. . Mango Ice Cream

This is not your average mango ice cream. This is a proper dessert ice cream that involves much more than blending up mango with some ice. Making the mango puree is just the first step. Next, you make a divine custard using honey, sugar, and half-and-half, and then blend it all together. This recipe will need to be made the day before you wish to serve it. This is a great afternoon snack or follow-up to a refreshing salad lunch. The following recipe from .com includes a bit of chili sea salt at the end, if you like that extra kick!

3. Mango Upside-Down Cake

Are you seeking something a bit more rich and cakey? This is the one for you. Upside-down cakes are just the right amount of flaky and creamy. When I eat them I feel like I am eating a pie, but way better. This is one that does not take much prep or down-time. This recipe shows you how to make it from scratch. However, if you are broke or short on time, just get a package of cake mix and a can of mangoes and you can get a similar effect!

4. Mango cream-tart with mango whipped cream

If you've been waiting to the part of the list where I get to the super-indulgent, elite level, mango-occupied dessert, you found it. I was saving it for last of course! This one is going to take some effort and a solid trip to the grocery store, but it will be worth it at the end when your guests's eyes are rolling back in their head because it is so good. This is the spring dessert you want to break out for that special date, a dinner with the in-laws, or a special occasion. But who makes the rules anyway? I say make it our of sheer curiosity and enjoy it for no reason at all.

I am sure you are dying to try it! Go to: food52 for the recipe!
