Do You Only Have 30 Minutes To Make Dinner? Try This One Pan Sausage Pasta!

As you can see from this list of ingredients, you don't have to break the bank to make a main course that tastes like a million bucks. You probably have many of these items anyway, so you'll have no trouble getting started.

Ingredients To Gather:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 14 oz smoked sausage, sliced into 1/4″ rounds
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 (10 oz) can rotel
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz whole grain penne
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • thinly sliced scallions, for garnish

Directions To Follow:

Begin by cooking the sausage and onion until lightly browned and then adding the garlic and cooking about 30 seconds. Then you're ready to start combining ingredients:

Add the broth, rotel, heavy cream, uncooked pasta, and pepper. Stir well. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer until the pasta is tender, 15 minutes. Stir once or twice while cooking. Preheat the broiler while pasta is cooking.

Finally, take the skillet off of the stove and add 1 cup of cheese and season with salt to taste. Then, add the scallions and the rest of the cheese on top and broil about 3 minutes.

We knew as soon as we made this dish that it was going to be one of our favorites. We just love the Monterey Jack cheese…and the cream…and the garlic…well, you get the idea. We're certain you'll feel the same way!
