Frito-Lay Recalls Two Products Because of Potential Salmonella…Find Out Which Ones!

To be clear, there's actually no reports of problems with either of the chip products recalled by Frito-Lay. However, with recalls and reports of contamination being issued every few months, this is getting pretty scary!

While it is not 100 percent confirmed, there is a chance Salmonella could be in the seasoning of the jalapeño-flavored Lay's Kettle Cooked potato chips and jalapeño-flavored Miss Vickie's Kettle Cooked potato chips. The potential contamination came to light after Frito-Lay's supplier for the seasoning blend issued a recall on their flavoring product.

The recalled packets have a “guaranteed fresh” date of July 4 or prior for regular-sized bags and “use by” date of June 20 or prior for the chips in multi-packs. In the U.S. the products were dispersed to “retail stores and via foodservice, vending, and other channels.”

“This action is the direct result of a supplier's recent recall of a seasoning blend which includes jalapeño powder that could contain Salmonella,” Frito-Lay says.

The company did stress that no salmonella was found in the seasoning Frito-Lay received from the supplier, but the company decided to issue the recall as a precaution. Call a Frito-Lay rep at 866-272-9393 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST or visit www.jalapenochiprecall.com for reimbursement.

Do you eat either of these chips? If so, are you going to seek reimbursement for the product? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
