Now, stick an egg in it like you would for eggs n bread and it will really be a blast, especially if you like your yolk runny

Mom made this for us as kids back in the 50’s and 60’s without the spices. She always called it “egg bread” which what I call french toast still today.

French Toast always tastes better than the traditional pancake staple in the morning. When was the last time you had this American Classic?

    The Ingredients To Gather:

    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    2 tablespoons sugar
    4 tablespoons butter
    4 eggs
    1/4 cup milk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 slices challah, brioche or white bread
    1/2 cup maple syrup, warmed
The Step By Step Instructions To Follow:

In a small bowl, combine, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar and set aside briefly.
In a 10-inch or 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk together all of the ingredients in a small bowl.
Dip the bread in egg mixture.
Fry the bread slices until golden brown, then cook the other side.
    Finished!

Instead of wing-ing it in the morning while making French Toast now you have the ingredients and directions.

You are going to love the final result of these fluffy and warm French Toast cakes.
