When I read this tip I was so excited I grabbed an avocado that wasn't quite ready and decided to test it out myself. All I did was set the oven to 200 degrees, wrapped the avacado in foil placed it in a baking dish and let it warm. Here are the results.
-
5 minutes: No change.
-
10 minutes: No change.
-
15 minutes: It could maybe be starting to soften. But maybe not.
-
20 minutes: No, definitely not getting any softer.
-
25 minutes: I feel like it's thinking about getting softer.
-
30 minutes: I think it's getting softer. Maybe?
-
40 minutes: It could be starting to soften, but only a little bit.
-
50 minutes: Finally! Although minimal, there's some actual progress.
-
60 minutes: Yes! The avocado is actually softer. It feels ripe.
Once it cooled you remove the foil and you will have a ripe avocado. Now I will admit that as an avid avocado lover I was slightly underwhelmed at the flavor of the final product. Sure the texture was ok but there was something slightly lacking in the taste department. then again I eat them raw all the time so I am very picky. You may find nothing wrong with them.
All in all, this worked and is a great tip if you are cooking with an avocado and need it to ripen fast. Although I would choose one that isn't so hard to work with. That may lessen the bake time and help it retain some of its glorious flavor!
Do you have any tips on how to rapidly ripen an avocado? If so leave them in the comments below!

doesn’t work
said it took an hour in the oven wrapped in foil at 200 degrees. A paper bad and an apple is cheaper.
Thanks for information.
I’m going to do my own experimenting. We have a tree in our yard and I never know when to pick. I may pick a hard one and see what I come up with.
