Kitchen Survival: Freezer Hacks That Will Save Everyone Time

Kitchen Survival: Freezer Hacks That Will Save Everyone Time

One of the best life hacks that I fond was to precook meals and then freeze them for a day later in the week. Surprisingly this has cut down on my time in the kitchen as when I make meals I simply make double and then freeze one for a later date.

Oatmeal Mornings

While I love the taste of fresh oatmeal and do not care for processed sugars I like to simmer up a big batch of oatmeal over the weekend, divide it up among a muffin tin, freeze, then transfer to a resealable freezer bag. The small pucks of oatmeal can be reheated in the microwave and viola you have a hot healthy breakfast without having to stand over the stove.

Ahhh Bananas

Bananas are great as they are packed with vitamins and nutrients that help to keep us strong and moving when we want to feel sluggish. All you have to do is take overripe bananas and freeze chunks on parchment paper. This way, they're ready to be tossed in a blender for smoothies, thawed and mashed for banana bread or oatmeal, or made into a cool snack during a hot day.

Pizza Dough and Pie Crusts

Again, buying store bought processed dough is not something I want to do. So I simply double my batch of dough and save some for later. Trust me on this one it saves so much time in the long run especially if you make a lot of pizza like we do! Just be sure to wrap it in plastic wrap first before you put it in a freezer bag.

Homemade Stock

Okay, so this is one that you should take the time and make a HUGE batch of all at once. I would take a day on the weekend and make a large pot of it, separate it (after cooling of course) and put it in ice cube trays to freeze. Once it is frozen I put them all into large freezer bags based on type. Oh and each cube is about two tablespoons…you might want to write that on the bag to remember.

Liquid Refreshments

We have all seen the posts going around Facebook that tell us to save our leftover wine and coffee in icecube trays. I do this and I LOVE it. During the summer I freeze wine and coffee and then once frozen place them in large freezer bags to store. You will NOT regret this trick.

Summer/Winter Harvests

All of those fruits and veggies that plant and harvest can be salvaged from time by simply sorting them out and freezing them out. Berries are a GREAT example of fruits that can be kept for a long time as well as Zucchini.

Now for my favorite…..

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

This one is one that I found out recently and I do not know how I lived without it for so long. Rather than waste time marinating your chicken breast each and every time you have it for a meal pre-marinate it once you get home from the store and then freeze it in bags, label it and you are ready to go when you need to.

Do you have any freezer hacks that we have not listed here? If so let us know in the comments below. And dont foreget to share this post so your friends can be let in on the amazing freezer hacks that can save everyone something they so vitally need…..time.
