Cake Balls have got to be one the coolest desserts around. They are incredibly simple, with a great deal of room for experimentation. They are one of the easiest dishes to throw together for potlucks and events. This is a great dessert that the kids can be involved in, since the steps are so simple. The formula for a cake ball is basically cake mix + frosting.

“But wait,” you say, “Isn’t that just a cake?”

It is much more fun than a cake! With cake balls, you bake the cake first, and then you must destroy it! (This is the fun part). You dump the whole cake into a bowl until you have a bowl of crumbly, delicious, ruined cake. Then, you add in a can of frosting and mix it all up.  Admit it; this is what you always wanted to do as a kid! Even now, my favorite part of the cake is the frosting and often will eat only that part and not the rest of the dry cake without the frosting. When I discovered cake balls, I found my new favorite way to eat cake. This way every single bit is moist and delicious.
