Here's everything for his the mouthwatering slow cooker sesame beef with rice. This recipe also works with chicken or pork.
Let's Get Started…
Ingredients To Gather:
- 2 pounds lean beef roast, fat trimmed off
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 TBS low sodium soy sauce
- 2 TBS dark sesame oil
- 1 TBS ketchup
- 1 TBS brown sugar
- 1 tsp sriracha
- 1 TBS rice wine vinegar
- 2 inch knob of fresh ginger, peeled and minced 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds, divided
- 1/4 cup beef broth (chicken will also work)
- 2 TBS cold water
- 1 TBS cornstarch
- green onions (optional garnish)
Directions To Follow:
- Start by cutting the beef into four evenly sized chunks, and then adding them to the slow cooker and sprinkling onions over the beef.
- Next, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, ketchup, brown sugar, sriracha, rice wine vinegar, ginger, garlic, and half of the sesame seeds and then pour this mixture over the beef and onions.
- Now, cover the slow cooker and cook for 5 hours on high or between 7 and 8 hours on low. Now, mix cold water and cornstarch in a bowl to make a slurry.
- After this, take the beef out of the slow cooker and set it aside on a cutting board, and then put the cornstarch slurry in the slow cooker and cook for 30 minutes on high. While the cornstarch slurry is cooking, use two forks to shred the beef and then set aside.
- Let the sauce thicken a bit and then put the beef back into the slow cooker and stir so that it's coated with the slurry. Finally, serve the beef over rice or quinoa and top with the sesame seeds and green onions.
Finished!
This recipe tastes like a million bucks, but is really simple to make. We really like it because it's so versatile. Serve the beef on top or inside dishes ranging from rice to casseroles to wraps and feel free to experiment.
