Peach Pie Is Our Favorite But This Time We Did A Little Something Different That Makes It Better

Relax into your summer season with this award winning peach cake. Enjoy outside with coffee and friends for the perfect start to your day.

Here Is How You Put Everything Together… You're Probably Going To Want To Make Seconds Of This…

Things You Will Need:

  • ripe peaches

  • 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg

  • cup sugar

  • tablespoons softened unsalted butter

  • large egg

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1/2teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

  • cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup almond flour (or finely ground almonds)

  • teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • Turbinado Sugar

How To Prepare:

  1. To start, you'll need to heat up the oven to around 350 degrees. Next, you'll need to prepare your cake pan with butter and flour.
  2. Toss the peaches (cubed into bite size pieces) with nutmeg and sugar. You won't need this until later so you can just set aside in a safe place for now.
  3. Mix together the baking powder and soda, flours and salt. Add this mixture into the butter mixture and then mix until smooth. Some lumps may remain but don't worry about those. Then you'll pour this mix into the pan you prepared in step one.
  4. Top the mixture with the prepared peaches from step two. Try and get as many peaches as you can into the pan, because more peaches the better. Then you'll want to sprinkle some turbinado sugar over the top of the cake.
  5. Start off by baking the cake at the above mentioned oven temperature for about 10 minutes. After that, you'll want to bring the temperature down to about 325 degrees and bake until it passes a toothpick test. You know, where the toothpick comes out clean when poked into the center. This should happen at about 55 minutes.

Fun Fact: Did you know that peaches can allegedly help with the problem of hair loss? It's noted that peaches have a positive effect on the scalp which addresses this issue. Or maybe it's because peaches are a good stress reliever. In Hungary this fruit is referred to as the “Fruit of Calmness.”
