Pie Crust Just Got A Makeover And This Rye Pie Crust Is Simply Fantastic!

     This recipe makes enough for about two tart crusts but if you want more, you can just double the ingredients. It takes a few minutes to prepare and then has to rest for about thirty minutes before it is ready to use. It will taste so smell so good, your mouth will be watering before you even try it!

Let's Get Started!

The Ingredients To Gather:  

       1 ½ cups  flour
½ cup rye flour
½ teaspoon kosher salt
12 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 egg yolk
¼ teaspoon cider vinegar
5 tablespoons ice water

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

In  bowl of  stand mixer, combine flour, rye flour, kosher salt. Turn on mixer to low with  paddle attachment,   add  butter, cut into small chunks. Mix until  dough is crumbly, with  small bits of butter chunks remaining.
In bowl, mix several ice cubes, some water. In another bowl, combine  egg yolk, cider vinegar,  ice water, whisk with  fork to combine. Turn  mixer on low,slowly pour  liquid mixture in until  dough comes together.
Remove  dough from  bowl, knead once or twice  until  dough is smooth. Divide  dough into two even portions, form  into  disc,, wrap in plastic wrap. Allow to rest in refrigerator  30 minutes.

Additional Notes:

If you only need one dough, you can place the second dough in the freezer to use at another time.
