A Sausage & Cheese Casserole So Good It’s Hard To Resist Going Back For Seconds

A Sausage & Cheese Casserole So Good It’s Hard To Resist Going Back For Seconds

Here's everything you need for this hearty casserole. This recipe calls for Gruyère cheese, but you can use Swiss instead. Whatever you use it will turn out fantastic!

Let's Get Started…

Ingredients To Gather:

  • 1 pound hot ground pork sausage (such as Jimmy Dean)
  • 1 1/4 cups (5 oz.) shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 6 green onions, sliced
  • 1 (13.22-oz.) package mini croissants (about 24), torn
  • Vegetable cooking spray
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 5 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups (8 oz.) shredded Gruyère cheese

Directions To Follow:

  1. Start by cooking the sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat for 8 minutes, stirring the entire time to crumble up the sausage.
  2. Next, toss together the sausage, Parmesan, salt, onion and croissants and the place in a 13×9-inch cooking dish that's been coated with cooking spray.
  3. Whisk together the milk, cream and eggs, and then pour on top of the sausage mixture and chill for 8 hours.
  4. Finally, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, uncover the casserole, sprinkle with the Gruyère and then bake for 45 minutes or until the casserole is golden.
  5. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Finished!

We like pairing this rich and creamy casserole with something a bit lighter, such as a small dinner salad or maybe a vegetable side dish such as green beans.

Happy Baking & Enjoy!
