I have tried several ways and so far the easiest way to get easy to peel eggs is to boil the water first, then put the eggs in, boil for at least 10 minutes, then allow to sit for another 10. Then drain and shake violently to break the shells, they seem to break easier while still hot. Then add ice and water and chill completely – the longer the better.

I set them for 20 minutes…and I don’t use fresh eggs. The fresher the egg, the more that skin between the shell and the egg wants to stick together and the harder they are to peel. Buy your eggs, wait a few days, and then use this method.

Exactly Janet Shelley! However! If you add a little cider vinegar to the water and after you rinse hot water off first time, crack big end of egg before you put cold water on them! They will peel easier. For what it’s worth, sometimes you get eggs that refuse to peel easily!

Kathy Stoneburner Cavallero, start w/fresh eggs. Bring water to a rolling boil. Carefully drop eggs into water. I use a ice cream scoop. Let eggs boil for 30 seconds
(Depending how soft you want them.)
Cover and turn heat off & let them finish cooking for 10 minutes. Drain and put into an ice bath & let them cool.
To peel crack bottom of egg and enjoy easy peel…enjoy.
Look out for my cookbook next year.
    Thanks for the interest.

Pressure cooker. Pinch of salt and baking soda in water. Bring to pressure and cook for 6 minutes. Let them release naturally. Shock in cold water, and the peels will practically slide right off.

I roll mine on the counter (back and forth) several times before boiling so that the yolks are centered. This makes more uniform deviled eggs.

I have also found that if you use a glass pot (like visions)
your eggs will not pick up any metal taste. You may not notice, but you will be able to tell a difference once you use a glass pot.

As soon as the water in the pot with your eggs in it starts boiling, pull it away from the fire and cover the pot with a lid. Let stand ten minutes and you’ll have perfect hard boiled eggs.

I make my hard boiled this way and never have a problem. Take your eggs and cover them with water in a pot. From from start to finish I cook them 45 min. I use the timer for 45 min. only. I take them out of the boiling water and let them cool naturally. No cold water. That is bs. Just peel & eat or prepare. The best.
