They're the Perfect Accompaniment to Your Morning Cup of Coffee
One of our favorite parts of the Easter holiday is the traditional hot cross buns our families made every year when we were growing up. There's just something about waking up to the sweet, aromatic smell of these rich and hearty bread treats that makes you want to hop out of bed and check your Easter basket to see what goodies the Easter Bunny left you. Now that we're adults we still adore hot cross buns, and we still make them every Easter. However, the following hot cross bun recipe is so amazing you'll want to make it all year long…and not just for special occasions!
This recipe uses a sweet, rich maple syrup that keeps the buns moist, as well as adds a little something extra that makes them incredibly decadent and perfect for anyone who has a major sweet tooth. This version calls for letting the buns sit overnight, but you can skip that part. Instead, allow the dough to rise for 90 minutes immediately after you knead it, and then shape in into the buns.
