We love crockpots and the wonderful things they allow us to do! This recipe is genuinely easy and serves six to eight people easily.
Let's Get Started!
Here Are The Ingredients To Gather:
- 2 (14 ounce) cans sauerkraut, undrained (or 1 (2 pound) bag)
- 5 or 6 potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
- 1 pound Polish sausage, cut into chunks (could use smoked sausage)
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
The Directions To Follow:
- Place sauerkraut and potatoes in slow cooker, add spices and water.
- Place sausage on top.
- Cook 4 hours on high or about 6 hours on low or until potatoes are done.
When we were young sauerkraut, potatoes and sausage was something special our family, the decedents of German immigrants, had for the New Year (for “good luck”) but now, with the perfection of crockpots, such meals can be made very easily and inexpensively. In other words, it’s another of those traditional recipes that can be made weekly!
