The Story Behind How Buffalo Wings Were Invented Is Absolutely Wild!

There are several versions of the story behind the invention of Buffalo wings…one from each member of the Bellissomo family! Teressa claims the whole thing started when her son stopped by unannounced with some of his college buddies late one Saturday night:

Teressa planned to whip up a snack for the boys. She was about to make a chicken stock using some wings, but instead chopped them in half, fried them up and served them in a glorious sauce made of Frank’s RedHot and butter. But Dominic always said it was a Friday night, and many of the Friday night regulars at the bar were devout Catholics, no meat on Fridays. The wings were a holy reward as the clock struck midnight for staying pious.

Teressa's husband Frank told yet another version of the story. In his, the wrong kind of chicken was delivered to the pub, and instead of tossing it, Frank asked Teressa to whip something up using the wings. She created the signature sauce, and thus started a national — and even international — food trend.
