The Surprising Reason Water Bottles Have Expiration Dates On Them

It seems that practically everything has an expiration date these days. The reason for that is simple. It's because food isn't the only thing that could harm you if consumed after a certain period of time. Personal care items, makeup, medicine and even household items such as cleaning products could all prove to be harmful on some level if used past their expiration dates.

While the date stamps on food are pretty explanatory what do we do or how do we determine if products, such as water, are ok to consume after their date?

Yes, it seems even water has a date stamp which may seem odd as bottled water does not go “bad” per say.

While the dates on bottles are just not something I have noticed apparently they have been there since the 1980's. This originated in New Jersey when a law was passed that every manufacturer of consumable goods places an expiration date on their goods.
Even though the law has since been axed and the U.S Food and Drug Administration does not require bottled water to have a limited shelf life, companies still continue to abide by the law as an indication of quality.
So let's keep reading and take a closer look at what this date means and if it's something we really have to pay attention to.
