The Trick To Long Lasting Veggies

I love cooking at home, however, there is one thing that bothers me.

For those who love to cook at home, you know what I am referring to. It's that moment onions, garlic, and shallots which are essential for flavor in most dishes have gone bad.

This little trick, we’re about to show you, has been around forever. Actually, my grandmother showed me this and it works like a charm.

When you use this method they last a long longer, don’t sprout too early and will stay nice and crispy. This hack is particularly helpful now because of the approaching holidays where it seems I always need these ingredients on hand fresh.

I use a cotton bag that I made over 20- years ago to keep my onions, shallots and garlic in. Their skins fall off or I peel it off before removing them from the in bag helping keep all new veggies fresh longer. I also keep my potatoes in a separate cotton bag that has larger air pockets. I hang both of these in my pantry from the bottom shelve, where it stay darker and it’s the coolest.
