These Fancy Pork and Beans Aren’t Like the Store-Bought Version We Grew Up Eating!

This Recipe Is a Childhood Favorite With a Twist…

If you're like us, when you hear the phrase “pork and beans,” you probably think of the canned version you buy at the store, you know that quick and easy snack you can just pour out of the can and heat whenever you're hungry. It's also ideal as a side dish, and a lot of us grew up eating it because it was just so darned easy! However, it is a pretty basic food, and maybe sometimes you're craving something a little more, well…fancy! Fortunately, even pork and beans can be dressed up, and we found an amazing recipe that does just that.

Not only is this version of pork and beans not quite what you're used to, it's also amazingly quick to make, even thought it's a bit more sophisticated than traditional pork and beans. There are a couple of things that make this recipe so great. One, it has a nice velvety sauce that's created by not draining the liquid off of the beans before you cook them. Plus, while this recipe uses cured pork, you can also add your favorite type of pork to dress it up, such as some savory smoked bacon. Wow!
