These Homemade Twix Bars Are Delicious! My Kids Had So Much Fun Making Them!

Want a candy bar that will have every one loving you? Well here it is. This is a fun recipe to make with the kids. Why buy them from a store when you can easily make a whole bunch at home?

Let's Get Started…

Here Is What You Need: 

  • shortbread (any shape or brand you prefer)
  • one bag of soft caramels
  • one tablespoon milk or cream
  • one bag of mini chocolate chips
  • two tablespoons oil

Here Are The Step By Step Instructions On How To Make Them…

  1. Line the bottom of a baking dish with wax paper and then a light mist of nonstick cook spray. Put the shortbread in the pan. Melt the caramels with milk or cream over low to medium heat. Cool slightly, then pour over the shortbread. Let the caramel sit til hardened.
  2. Cover a cutting board or other surface with wax paper and again with a light mist of nonstick cook spray. Flip the bars onto the wax paper. Cut bars and trim off excess caramel from edges
  3. Melt chocolate with oil.
  4. Dip the bars in chocolate and tap off excess. Place on cooling rack and allow chocolate to set before serving. You can put in the fridge to make it faster.

Finished!

Now the family will be singing with delight as they eat there homemade candy bars. You can store these in the freezer for a snack or desert at a later time.
