These Yams Steal The Show Every Single Time & They Are Really Simple To Make!

Follow these steps, and I guarantee those aunts will be talking about your yams to all their friends. They may even become sweet JUST to get the recipe for themselves! Don't you dare! This is OUR little secret. So, let's get started.

This is what you're going to need to gather in order to prepare the best yams on the planet:

  • 2 pounds garnet yams or sweet potatoes

  • 3 (2-inch) strips orange zest, white, spongy pith removed

  • 2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half

  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup

  • 2 tablespoons pure olive oil, light sesame oil, or unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 2 teaspoons peeled and finely chopped ginger root

  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt

Now, pay close attention! This needs to be followed exactly as you see it:

  1. Make sure to preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Now, you are going to want to peel and halve the yams crosswise, cutting each half into 4 wedges.
  3. Placing the yams snuggly into a single layer baking dish, tuck orange zest and cinnamon sticks amongst the yams.
  4. Let's whisk together the orange and lemon juice into a bowl, adding maple syrup, oil and ginger. Continue mixing, adding salt into the dressing.
  5. Pour this dressing over the yams.
  6. OPTIONAL: Dot butter over the yams after pouring on the dressing. You may also add your favorite nuts a this step. We suggest walnuts or pecans.
  7. Basting every 15 minutes, keep the pan juices flavoring the yams, while banking until tender. This will take about 1 1/4 hours.
  8.  Remove the orange zest and cinnamon sticks before serving.

Now, I want you to taste this… even if you aren't a yam eater and are just baking for family. Isn't it so good?! I mean, feel how soft it is in your mouth, as the flavors burst out the corners! It's my own allegation, but I predict that will be one of the fasted  dishes to leave your table this Thanksgiving.

Please, comment below and tell me how it turned out. Also, tell me if you added nuts or not. Finally, were you a yam eater before this dish? I bet you will be now!
