- 4 slices bacon
- 2 lbs green cabbage
- 1 onion
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup water

Since this recipe has you cooking with Cabbage, you have to be careful how you make this dish. Make sure that you wash the cabbage and dry it all the way through.

You do not want any extra water in the pan and make sure that all of the fat on the bacon is still left on.
Be Careful…
The Bacon and the Cabbage are the main ingredients. However, there are some steps that you have to follow when making this or else they will over cook. This is a temperamental dish so make sure you follow this recipe exactly and do not skip any parts of it.
You can serve this traditionally for dinner but you can also have it for breakfast. Make sure to serve this up with some Rye Bread or if in the morning go with some plain old grits with some black, cracked pepper. Oh, we forgot to mention that a white onion is best but you can also use yellow or purple.
Directions:
- In dutch oven or skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until browned.
- Add cabbage, onion, salt; coat cabbage with bacon fat.
- Add water, reduce heat to medium-low; cover, cook 30 minutes.
