This Breakfast Patty Melt Has A Secret Ingredient Baked Right Inside Which Makes It Even More Delicious

This delicious sausage patty melt recipe makes enough for two servings but you can double the ingredients if you want more. It takes about five minutes to prepare and thirty minutes to cook.

Let's Get Started!

The Ingredients To Gather:

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, More If Needed
  • 1/2 Yellow Onion
  • 1/4 pound Breakfast Sausage
  • 2  Eggs
  • 3 slices Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, Or Other Cheese
  • 2 slices Bread

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

Heat skillet over low heat,  melt 2 tablespoons of  butter. Add onions,  cook, stirring occasionally,  15 – 20 minutes, until onions are soft,  slightly caramelized. Remove  to  plate, set aside.

Form the sausage into a thin patty about the width of the bread you're using. Add to  same skillet,  increase  heat to medium. Cook  patty on both sides, about 5 minutes. Remove to  plate, set aside. Wipe skillet clean with paper towel.

Pour in the beaten eggs and cook, forming them into a rough circle as they set up. Flip to finish cooking on the other side.

Assemble  patty melt: bread, cheese, patty, eggs, cheese, onions, cheese, bread. Melt remaining butter in a clean skillet over low heat. Place  sandwich in  skillet,  cook low and slow for 8 -10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bread is crisp. Add more butter to  skillet if  bread needs it.

Finished!
