When I was sent this information, I couldn't open it fast enough. Seriously, I am all for quick and efficient ways of cooking. My schedule isn't one that I have the privilege of spending hours in the kitchen making up dishes that would make Gordon Ramsey jealous, so any little tip trick and word of advice I can get I soak it up like a dry biscuit does a plate full of gravy.
Ingredients
Bacon, any thicknessEquipment
Microwave-safe dish or plate
Paper towelsInstructions
- Line the bottom of the dish with paper towels: I recommend at least 4 layers of paper towels to soak up all the grease from the bacon.
- Lay the bacon in a single layer: If needed, slice your bacon in half so that it fits neatly in your dish. Lay as many slices of bacon in the bottom of the dish as will fit. The slices can be close together, but don't let them touch or they'll stick together during cooking.
- Cover the bacon with paper towels: Cover the bacon with another 2 layers of paper towels. Make sure none of the bacon is visible — if any is visible, the grease will splatter in the microwave and make a mess.
- Add more layers of bacon (optional): If you'd like to cook more bacon, add them in additional layers with 2 paper towels between each layer. Be sure to add a final 2 layers over the top.
- Microwave for 1 minute per slice of bacon: Place the dish with the bacon in the microwave and shut the door. Microwave on high power for 1 minute per slice.
- Check the bacon: Take a peek under the top layer of paper towels and check the bacon. Microwave in additional 30 second bursts until the bacon is just shy of being as done as you like it — the bacon will cook a little more once you remove it from the microwave, so stop cooking when the bacon isn't quite as done as you like it.Depending on your preferred crispiness, thickness of the bacon, power of your microwave, and how much bacon you're cooking, the exact cooking time my vary. If some pieces are done before others, remove the finished pieces and continue cooking the remainder.
- Transfer the bacon to a plate: The bacon tends to stick to the paper towels if left to cool in the dish, so transfer them to a plate as they are done. If the bacon is still dripping with fat, lay them on a paper towel to finish draining.
*I found that the average cooking time was about 1 minute per slice of bacon
Now just like any dish, there are pros and cons and frankly, the pros outweigh the cons on this one! The pros are delicious, delicious bacon in less and with less mess. The cons are it does tend to take a few of your paper towels so yeah. But again you get delicious bacon so its a toss up. For me, on mornings when I simply don't have the time I will be using this method!
So what do you think? Would you make bacon using this method?

The only way I will cook it. Perfect crisp, best tasting bacon. Made 2 days this past week. Yummy
Why does there have to be an ad for someone’s ugly toenail fungus right below a recipie
It works good
this is the way I allways make my bacon
Gag
Thanks so much! This is really great 🙂
Been doing this since the late 70’s
No bacon grease left to cook with!!
Buy a microwave bacon pan with ridges..a large pan. Put paper towel down then bacon then paper towel….layer several layers and nuke. There will be grease in bottom if you want, but bacon is crisp and not greasy.
Bacon fat id liquid gold, lol. I use is a lot. I prefer, to bake my bacon. It doesn’t splatter all over, it stays flat, you can cook as crispy as you like, in 15 minutes you can cook the whole package at once, and, you get the bacon fat.
Nice ! Thanks so much 🙂
Anything related to cooking is very important
That would be great for anyone not wanting to save that liquid gold of bacon fat!
Can’t believe people need instructions on microwaving bacon!
But, does it come out nice and crispy??
Never nuke bacon.
