This Is the Perfect Way to Spice Up Lunch!
There are tons of quick and easy sandwiches that are simple to make and make a delicious and satisfying lunch. However, after a while sometimes you get tired of burgers and fries or maybe you're just craving something a little unusual or exotic. In those cases, a gyro may be just what you need. This tasty sandwich from the Mediterranean is loaded with spicy flavors and topped with a creamy but spicy yogurt, but the traditional version uses meat, which some people want to eliminate from their diet.
You may think that if you don't want to the meat filling you can't enjoy this savory sandwich, but we recently discovered a meatless version that uses a walnut-lentil crumble in place of the meat and is every bit as mouthwatering as the original. It also has plenty of spices and seasonings, including clove, cumin, jalapeno, cayenne, and za'atar, which is a traditional Eastern/Mediterranean spice blend made from a savory combination of herbs.
