They may call it angel food cake, but we believe that may be a bit of a misnomer because boy, is it sinfully delicious! In fact, it's one of our favorite guilty pleasures, so we're a little surprised at how this sweet confection got its angelic name. It must be the heavenly taste, which is so dreamy you might just feel like you're floating on a cloud! Imagery aside, however, angel food cake is a solid choice for everything from birthday parties to holiday dinners, because its light taste and texture appeals to pretty much everyone.
We didn't think it could get any better until we discovered this version that uses toasted sugar as a topping. The toasted sugar adds just a hint of caramel flavor that's subtle but really jazzes up the cake. Plus, it also helps tone down the sweetness of angel food cake, making it a little milder and smoother. Then, just dress up the cake with some fresh berries and you'll have a dessert that's the perfect way to top off your favorite meal.
