Twice Baked Steakhouse Potatoes!

Twice Baked Steakhouse Potatoes!

For these twice baked potatoes, we'll start with some simple ingredients, as follows:

  1. One bag of large russet potatoes.
  2. Large sour cream.
  3. One bottle of A-1, or steak sauce of your choice.
  4. One bag of finely shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Sliced Mushrooms, (small box found in produce should be fine).
  6. Shredded meat of your choice. ( I prefer to use what I already have available, roast, chicken, etc.., its really up to you and your taste buds).
  7. Garlic Salt.
  8. Olive Oil.

So now that we have our list of ingredients, and made the trip to the store, lets get started with the fun part.

First off, preheat your oven to 400 Degrees. While oven is preheating, wash your potatoes in cold water. Once washed, gently cover each potato with olive oil, and garlic salt. Be sure to evenly rub the mixture over all areas of each potato. Once oven is heated, arrange potatoes on a baking sheet and cook until they are soft to the touch and the skin is crisp, (generally 45 mins or so). Remove and let cool, and shut oven off for the time being.

When you are sure your spuds are nice and cooled down, we can move on to the next step. Slice each potato in two, longways and using a spoon remove the insides to a large mixing bowl, saving the skin shell. Once you've completed this step for all your potatoes, add the whole large container of sour cream, half of your bag of cheese, desired shredded meat and also add your A-1 to taste. Wash your mushrooms and add those as well. Now, mix all these ingredients until you have an even consistent mixture.

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees this time around. While oven is heating, generously add your potato filling into each potato skin shell and place on baking sheet. Cover the tops of your potatoes with your remaining cheese, and lightly drizzle additional A-1 sauce over the tops as well. Bake at 325 degrees for an additional 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese has melted.

Let your twice baked potatoes cool for 5 minutes, garnish as desired and serve!

I love this creation for a couple reasons, but I think it mostly has to do with the combination of twice baked goodness and the steakhouse flavor. Hearty and filling you can serve these as a side, appetizer or even a main dish. No matter what, you really can not go wrong.

While I've put many hours into perfecting my Steakhouse Twice Baked Potato recipe, I encourage you to make yours your own, make it unique to your taste buds. Just be sure to share your creations below in the comments!

Happy Twice Baking!
