WalMart’s New Recall: Frozen Organic Dark Sweet Pitted Cherry Products Due to Contamination by Listeria

“These recalled products were distributed to a customer distribution center in Louisiana and may have been redistributed to stores in Louisiana and Mississippi,” according to the recall notice. “The affected retail customer has been notified of this recall and instructed to remove any recalled product from retail store shelves and inventories.”

The problem with Listeria is that it can lay dormant until 70 days after ingesting the bacteria and thus it may be hard to pinpoint the origin.

For this particular recall here are the items that you will need to be on the lookout for.

Great Value branded 32-ounce plastic zip-top bags of frozen, organic, dark sweet pitted cherries.

  • Best By Date of 08/10/19 on the back of the bag;
  • UPC number of 078742126166; and
  • Lot code FED722211 or FED722212.
If you have these products you may take them back to the nearest Walmart and obtain a refund or exchange them for the same product that does not have the above mentioned code.
If you begin to experience listeria symptoms shortly after consuming the product then please head to your nearest hospital and advise them you may have ingested a recalled product.  To learn more about the symptoms associated with Listeria check out the symptoms HERE.
