We Used To Hate Hot Dogs But When We Stuffed Them Inside A Warm, Gooey, Cheesy Bagel Everything Changed

Here's everything for these mouthwatering everything bagel hot dogs. This recipe requires 1 hr. total time and makes eight hot dogs.

Let's Get Started…

Ingredients To Gather:

  • 2 ½ teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 2 ½ teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 (8-ounce) block cream cheese
  • 2 pounds store-bought pizza dough, at room temperature
  • 8 bun-length hot dogs
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon malt syrup
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten with 1 tablespoon water

Directions To Follow:

  1. Preheat oven to 400℉.
  2. Line a baking sheet with greased parchment paper.
  3. Combine poppy seeds, sesame seeds, caraway seeds, garlic, onion, and sea salt in a small bowl.
  4. Slice cream cheese lengthwise into 8 sticks.
  5. Cut dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece out into 9×4-inch rectangles.
  6. Lay a cream cheese stick and a hot dog lengthwise down the middle of each rectangle.
  7. Tuck the short ends over the filling then fold the long sides over to fully encase the dogs.
  8. Crimp the seams shut.
  9. Place bagels on the prepared baking sheet, cover with a damp towel, and let them rest for 10 minutes.

Next, bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat, and then reduce the heat to medium-low and allow the water to simmer. Add baking soda and malt syrup, and then boil two bagels at a time for 1 minute on each side; they should have a wrinkled appearance. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the water, and then place them on the baking sheet with the seam-side facing down and repeat the process until all of the bagels are done. Now, brush the tops of the bagels with egg wash and then sprinkle them with the everything seasoning. Release steam from the bagels by poking a few holes in each of them using a toothpick. Bake for between 20 and 25 minutes or until golden brown. Finally, let them cool for at least 15 minutes on the baking sheet before serving.

Finished!

These everything bagel hot dogs sound amazing, and they really are a new and creative twist on an old favorite. We'll never go back to plain old hot dogs after trying this delicious version.

Happy Baking & Enjoy!

Cramming it into a bagel does not make it taste better. It’s still a nasty disgusting product.
