Why Buy Frozen Chicken Strips When You Can Make Them Yourself? We Even Have A Recipe For The Sauce!

These great tasting chicken strips make enough for six servings but you can always double the ingredients to make more. This recipe uses hot sauce to add some spicy flavor. If you want to keep them more mild you can just leave that out. They take about an hour to prepare because they need to soak up all those incredible flavors. Then they take about eight minutes to fry.

The Ingredients To Gather:

  • 2  chicken breasts
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 TBSP cornstarch
  • 1 TBSP  Hot Sauce
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup regular breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup  flour
  • 1 TBSP onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt or garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups shortening or oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup mayo
  • 2 TBSP ketchup
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

  1. To get a more tender strip, you need to cut against the grain of the chicken.
  2. Cut strips as big or small as you’d like.
  3. Place chicken in bag.
  4. Combine milk, lemon juice, sugar.
  5. Whisk in  cornstarch.
  6. Add hot sauce, pepper, whisk to combine.
  7. Pour marinade in  bag with  chicken, gently shake until chicken is coated.
  8. Place bag in  fridge, marinate for at least 20 minutes, no longer than 1 hour.
  9. Heat  oil to 365 degrees in  frying pan.
  10. Combine all ingredients for coating.
  11. Remove chicken pieces from bag a few at a time and, coat  in  breadcrumb mixture.
  12. Repeat until all chicken is coated.
  13. Fry chicken pieces, 2-4 minutes per side.
  14. Remove  chicken, place on a plate lined with a paper towel.
  15. Combine all ingredients, whisk.
