Copycat Recipe: Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Fried Apples

We may still be in the dog days of summer, but it won't be too long before it's autumn and we're all craving rich, decadent comfort foods that are perfect for chilly fall days when you just want to cozy up in your nice warm house. One of our favorite fall treats has long been these rich cinnamony fried apples from Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. This is down-home cooking at its finest, and is the perfect way to make use of all those apples from the fall harvest.

It's surprisingly easy to get that Cracker Barrel taste at home thanks to this copycat recipe, which tastes every bit as good as the original. This recipe uses either bacon drippings or butter for a nice savor flavor, along with some lemon juice for a fresh taste and plenty of cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. Wow! This is one enticing treat that makes a perfect complement to any meal.
