• 1½ tsp baking powder

• 1½ cups sugar
• ⅔ cup vegetable oil
• ⅓ cup vegetable shortening at room temperature
• 1 tsp good quality vanilla extract
• 2 tsp pure lemon extract
• 3 large eggs
• 1½ cups buttermilk
• zest of two small or one large lemons, grated and finely chopped

Now That You Have All Of Your Tasty Ingredients Together There Is A Special Special Step That You Have To Follow In Order To Put This Layered Cake Together.

There is also a special baking time that needs to be followed so you can make sure you're cooking everything properally. if you decide to skip this step then your cake can come out too dense and a little dry.
