There are just some things that we have always done when we cook including inserting a toothpick to check when a cake is done to using foil to protect our pots and pans when we cook and to even wrap our food in.
However, using foil may actually be dangerous and the reason why will leave you completely stunned!
The Reason You Should Never Use Foil When You Cook Is:
According to a study published by the International Journal of Electrochemical Science, you may want to think twice before wrapping your food in aluminum foil to cook it — because some of that foil will leach into your meal.
“Aluminum foil used in cooking provides an easy channel for the metal to enter the human body,” concludes the study, which examined the effect foil has on a variety of different foods when used to prepare them.
The human body is wired to excrete small amounts of aluminum quite efficiently, so minimal exposure to the metal isn’t a concern. The World Health Organization (WHO) has even established daily intake levels of aluminum that have been shown to cause no harm.
“But most people are exposed to and ingest far more than this suggested safe daily intake,” said Ghada Bassioni, one of the study’s researchers, in a recent article.
This is due, in part, to the fact that aluminum — the most abundant metal in the earth’s crust — is found in a wide range of foods and spices. But it’s also used in cooking utensils. Pots and pans, for instance, are lined with aluminum. Most are oxidized to prevent the metal from leaching into food, but, according to Bassioni, this process becomes increasingly negated over time as people scrub their utensils after meals.
This documented overexposure has scientists looking into just how damaging aluminum is to the human body. Bassioni points out that several studies have suggested high aluminum intake can cause significant harm to people with renal impairment and certain bone diseases, and has been shown to reduce the growth rate of brain cells in human beings.

Don’t forget your pots and pans!
Everything is bad for you. You need to stop eating, stop drinking anything, stop exercising, stop breathing it’s all bad for you. What you can do as an alternative is lay down and die.
perhaps it’s not true, but I always use parchment paper, use stainless pots/pans and never drink soda from cans. actually don’t drink soda…….water only.
Aluminum is like the most available material on earth.. It was put here for us to use it.
I’m tired of hearing about all the things that can harm us, yet our grandparents used a lot of things that today are bad for us and a lot of them lived to be in 80s and 90s. Think how our grandparents raised their own gardens and canned their own food. Do you think that today it just might be how things are done.

I DO NOT like microwave baked potatoes. I pierce them, slather them in butter, and bake wrapped in foil. I open to suggestions on an alternative.
Take a potatoe and poke slurs in it at both ends and on sides. Grease it up with butter, put it on a plate. Do not cover it up with anything.
Microwave for 8 minutes.
Instant Baked Potatoe.
Cut open and add wjat you want and eat it.

A russet potatoe baked in the oven NEVER needs foil or to be poked or cut … wash it put it on the oven rack and bake .. it comes out perfect .. zero need for foil .. cooking in foil is not good

Ok, we got it. Don’t bake them in your microwave.
I have baked my russet potatoes this way for over 40 years and my mom and her mom for more years .. my daughters and sons do the same etc .. This was the norm for anyone I have ever known .. if you had a potatoes explode you are the rarity Melissa Hurn Adamson .. oven too high or baked too long or possibly the potato was bad .. I still bake my potatoes this way ..

Thank you Mary Morales. I turn my oven on for one baked potato. No pressure cooker. No vehicle to get to Wendy’s. I did find a GREAT receipe on FB for parmesan crusted, red baked potatoes. No foil required.
