That’s what I thought. It’s a bad attempt at stroganoff.

Maybe the steaks were seared on the grill before cooking.

Diane look at the recipe the beef is to be cut into cubes and no grilled onions on the top that is not sirloin in the picture either , plus kinda looks like burgundy wine sauce , not a cream of mushroom sauce. Picture definitely does not match ingredients

That is not cubed meat. In our family it’s always been Beef Burgundy, swapping out the broth for red wine. My mom started making it in the seventies. The sodium count is very high. I make my own cream soup and onion soup mix so the whole family can enjoy a low sodium, delicious meal.

Totally misleading picture. Brown cubed steak and add to crockpot? It’d be tough going in. This looks like thick NY steaks and there’s only onion powder, not onions in the recipe. Really?

My mom used same recipe years ago but instead of a crock pot she put all the ingredients wrapped in foil in a roasting pan and cooked in the oven. I strain the onion soup mix and only use the onions and a little of the mix. Makes for a less salty flavor.
