How To Recycle leftover Chocolate

Having candy laying around for days can lead to mindless indulging and empty calories. I would much rather create something decadent and unique that I can share with others. As a chocolate lover, I always get a lot of chocolate during the year, which means a lot of leftovers. It is great to indulge on special occasions with family and friends but continuing to indulge for days after will take a toll on your energy and weight!

Here are three fantastic ideas for all those leftover goodies. These are all great to give as gifts!

1. Chocolate Bark

One thing you can do is melt all the chocolate down, then make it into sheets of chocolate, otherwise known as “bark.”

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, or a heat-proof bowl in a pan of boiling water. Add in a bit of vanilla extract and pour into a parchment lined dish. Put it in the fridge to harden and then break into large pieces.

Get creative and add to the bark. Peppermint bark can be made by using peppermint extract instead of vanilla, or even crushed up peppermint. You can also add nuts such as walnuts, cashews, or almonds. Make it a bit healthier by adding goji berries, chia seeds and coconut.

Tie up a few pieces in plastic wrap with a ribbon and hand over to your favorite people!
