Best not use Cedar. Try Hickory, Pecan, Apple or Cherry.

I wonder if this recipe could be done in a slow cooker with chicken or beef roast? How about adding a couple tbl spoons of liquid smoke, some garlic pepper with a skinless 3lb chicken. Toss it in the slow cooker? Don’t like all that sweet barbecue store bought. Any ideas, plus wife doesn’t like pork that well.

George, you should be able to make this in a crock pot. Definitely use some liquid smoke and maybe a little hot sauce like Texas Pete.
