This Traditional Sauce Recipe Brings The Soul Of Italy Right Into Your Kitchen

Who Knew You Could Make Gourmet Food With A Crock Pot?

Nothing hits the spot quite like a hearty helping of rich, saucy, savory spaghetti. One bite of tender pasta and zesty sauce and you won't know what hit you. Yum!

Among spaghetti dishes, Spaghetti Bolognese might just be one of the most satisfying, thanks to its generous servings of vegetables, its ample spices and enough meat to stick to your ribs. All of that for just 1 pound of spaghetti. It sounds delicious but I would probably cook about 24-32 ounces of spaghetti with this recipe. It is also a pretty expensive sauce to make I would say.

Never heard of using a crock pot for sauce, my Mother would turn over in her grave, God forbid. I use a 20 qt SS stock pot, hand seived roma and roma paste tomatos from the garden, garden fresh peppers, onions, parsley, garlic and spices, I grow all my own spices, it takes two days to make the sauce, slow cooked, makes about 4 gallons of sauce, use one gallon for two or three dishes and freeze the other three gal for later. unless I’m making Lasagne, then I freeze 2 gal, 7 layers of lasagne takes about a gallon of sauce.

That’s some seious amount of sauce there Ken Lyons. Very convenient to have some sauce and macaroni…..Italian sausage, hot & mild. Sounds good.

Lou Soldo Hot sausage seems to take away from the flaovor, I use mild or sweet, ground sirloin and if I’m in the mood some prosciutto.

Carolyn Travis, Susan Crisman , Ken Lyons said it the best right below my post. So when you make yours, yours is the best….just like mine is the best. Enjoy & mangia. Don’t forget lots of garlic…the real garlic, not the small garlic stuff in a jar….onions, oregano, basil, crushed tomatoes paste, and a couple more. Plus if you put a green pepper and some white wine….then you will have another flavor which is very good with spare ribs. That’s all I have.

What’s the problem with using a crockpot? It’s just another heat source and a great way to cook low and slow to really bring out the flavors of some food. If I’m not mistaken, the older ge eration of Italian women used to cook their sauce/gravy all day long on a slow simmer. I’ll bet if you could ask some of them about the use of a crockpot, they would have loved to have had one….what with raising children, keeping house, washing and ironing clothes and cooking , the crockpot would have come in so handy for them. That was when women stayed home and raised their families….nowadays, most women work and crockpots come in really handy.

I go with just ground hamburg 85/15 brown it set aside. Sautéed onions celery grn pepper garlic (or garlic powder/salt) I use homemade tomato juice peite diced tomatoes with oregano. Season to taste salt pepper, red pepper or cayenne pepper sugar 3 whole bay leaves. Simmer all day usually if kids can wait. I think dad’s receipe. He never used receipe and would not write it down. Only taste. He’s been gone 16yrs.

Now That You Have Your Ingredients Together You Need To Follow These Next Steps…
Unlike other pasta recipes where you have to cut everything up individually, saute and then throw it in a large pot to simmer a few hours this one is quite different.
The reason this Bolognese sauce is cooked this way is because it’s richer in flavor and all of the vegetables, meats and spices slow cook cook into one another.
There is a special step unlike a regular, conventional pasta recipe that you have to adhere to. If you do not take precaution and add everything together then you sauce will come out ruined.
Bolognese is not typically made in a slow cooker because it takes more time. However, the results are unlike anything that you have ever tried before .

    Let’s Put Everything Together Now…

    Directions To Follow:

Throw all ingredients except the spaghetti into the crock pot. Stir to fully combine. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
When you are ready to serve, boil the pasta until al dente. Combine pasta with sauce. Top with parmesan cheese.

Wow! I did not expect that recipe to be so simple. Now, just imagine this decadent dish paired with a side salad and some hot, buttery, crusty garlic toast. That’s a dinner your family will ask for again and again!

Kathy Rose Here’s everything you need for this tantalizing pasta dish. You can use either spaghetti or linguine. The sauce is the main star of this recipe so try not to make it a big deal on deciding what type of noodle to use.
    Ingredients To Gather:
    1 cup Chopped Celery
    1 cup Chopped Carrot
1 cup Chopped Sweet Yellow Onion
    ¼ cup Chopped Garlic
¼ cup (total) Chopped Fresh Basil, Thyme, and Rosemary
1 28 oz can Crushed Tomatoes
2 -14 oz cans Whole Peeled Tomatoes
    1 lb 80/20 Ground Beef – Crumbled
1 lb Italian Sausage – Crumbled
    1 cup Chopped Pancetta
    1 cup Red Wine
    1 cup Beef Broth
2 cups Grated Parmesan + Rind
    1 cup Milk
    Salt and Pepper
    1 lb Spaghetti
