A lb. of bacon strips placed in between paper towels layered for 15 minutes in the microwave soaks up the grease and comes out perfectly. I wrap in more paper towel and place in a freezer bag. I take out what I need and micro 15 sec. til warm and serve.

No Jill Schoth it doesn’t make a mess at all which suprised me the first time I tried it. Just line your baking sheet with foil and your pan stays clean also.

If you can’t fry bacon in an iron skillet or any skillet for that matter, without burning it, you dont need to be anywhere near a stove OR an oven.

I put a layer of paper towels under the foil just in case of grease leakage. Oven baked is so much easier and it all comes out evenly cooked. Well worth the extra couple of minutes in cooking time.

My mother, who is 100 years old,(really), called this the cold start method. It also works in a frying pan, but baking is easier.

It all depends on the bacon and the thickness, there isn’t an exact science except frying it on medium heat and watching it while turning it till it is done to YOUR likeness. That’s how you do it right every time!

I line the pan with parchment paper, and it absorbs some of the extra grease. Easy clean up.

Cold oven set to 400 for 17 minutes is perfect for thick bacon in my oven. Regular bacon burns at 17 minutes.
